Another one off the list.
Recently acquired one of these nice little carbiness after looking for a while. It's very lightly used with some residue in the bore and a couple small dents in the wood. Otherwise like new with a box with everthing but the allen wrench, including a Brownells $650 price tag. It also had a very nice Leupold M8 6x scope on it.
The problem is that the barrel is out of registration with the receiver and is over-tightened. It is very obvious just looking down the sights so I'm surprised if got by QC. The two-piece bolt is nice and tight but I assume loosening the barrel will increase head space so it might need a shim. Customer Service is closed this week but I will contact them to get it fixed. A bit of a drag.
I read that there were 900 of these made for Lypsie's but that a lot were returned with cracked stocks and not re-issued so an estimated 800 or so are out there. I'm tempted to shoot it later but, ya know, collector value.

Re: M77/22RM RSI (07040)
Congrats on nice find, I have 1993 M77RM (0715) that is one of my favorites. Maybe someday add an RSI to keep it company when not in action. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the comments.
This is a great little rifle - nicely proportioned and we'll balanced. The wood finish is better than my other 77/22 style guns - it doesn't have that sprayed-on coating. Wish it didn't have to go back to the factory but the cockeyed barrel is going to annoy the hell out of me every time I pick it up if I don't. I had to send my Mini 30 back for the same reason but it was much worse on that gun because the rear sight's on the receiver.
Can anyone verify the origin story on these?

So, I sent the rifle to Customer Service and received it back today. Much better and pretty fast, I think, considering Gail said it would take 4 to 6 weeks.
I took the high rings & scope off - just wasn't right. But it looks great on the 1985 77RSI .250 and is correct vintage.

Thanks, RocDoc.
Does Lpsey's do that for all their specials and are they included in the box, normally?

That's great info, RocDoc.
It would be nice if we had a 'links' tab for references like this.
I noticed a model 7038, K77/22 RSI 22LR in that list. Never seen one.
