Found this KGP-160 the other day (1990 model). This goes along with my:
GP-160
GPF-340
GPF-840
KGPF-340
KGPF-840

But still a few more of the half lug (Ruger calls them "partially shrouded") models, both blued and stainless to find.

Ron,
What is the difference between the "GP" and the Redhawk?

Vince,
Not much that I know of other than the grip portion of the frame. The Redhawk actually came out before the GP did. The Redhawks came out in 1980 and were "beefier" than the Security Six series but had the same style grip as the high back framed Six series guns (151- and up s/n ). The GP100 came out in 1986 and is pretty much the same size as the Redhawk, the difference being the portion of the frame that the grips connect to is a "stud" that the grips slip up on to. The bottom of the stud has a 7/16" hole to accommodate a 7/16" x 7/8" aluminum pin that gets put in after the grips are installed to hold the grips in place. That and the grip screw (which also holds the grip inserts in place) secures the grips. If the gun has a Hogue style monogrip installed, the "saddle" that Hogue/others provides is used to secure the grip in place and you take the pin out and store it away.

I know there were other things done different internally but the grip frame/grips is typically the first thing that is noticed.

Ron,
Thanks for the info. It will take me some time to digest it all.
Did you know that Ruger has dropped the Redhawk in 41mag. from their line up, I think it was done in May or June of this year. I believe this is the second time they discontinued this gun. I tried to get the dates when Ruger discontinued them but the lady told me that info. was not available.
Thanks,
Vince
