OCGA Show at The Roberts Center

Just got an email from the OGCA saying that The Roberts Center will no longer host gun shows because of the negligent discharge of a firearm.

All it takes is one moron to ruin something for the vast majority of people who observe the rules and are safety conscious.

I would like to "thank" the moron with a good swift kick in the seat of the pants.

sadly we'd have to "boot" two Members , which I believe they have got the "boot", they are out, but sadly so are we....it took two, the Member who actually placed as LOADED rifle on the table and the other who picked up the gun and pulled the trigger for whatever reason, bad doings on BOTH parts and again we are the losers...having been in office there back at the I-X center in the early 90s , we know all too well what had , and needed, to be done, and at ALL times...wish I had a penny for every gun that I personally checked back then, and still even today and any given show....

Well we do check all carried in guns but this was a table holders gun and we expect them to check their own......
The gun was tied with a round loaded and a member picked the gun up and pulled the trigger....
two stupid things/people have ruined things for the other 14 thousand members what a shame....
Yes both have been removed from membership but their actions have hurt two people seriously along with the reputation of a great group of people.
A very sad situation but hopefully we can find another location eventually and continue the great OGCA tradition......

Rod, you are correct on all counts. The OGCA staff and board have always welcomed all ROCS members with open arms and center aisle location for their July show. Attention, everyone please remember to cancel your hotel rooms and I believe we will receive a full refund if anyone has paid for a display/trade table. It's heartbreaking to hear of ANY negligent discharge at any gun show. But knowing how strict (for safety) OGCA has been this is inexcusable by the 2 FORMER members. They BOTH knew better.

I'm glad their membership has been revoked.

But it's also very sad we've lost a good place to have our meetings & show. I too hope we can find a good place soon enough to where we can get back on track with our ROCS displays.

OGCA has always been a great host for us,, and after my first show with them,, I've quietly kicked my own backside for not joining years before that. I know I missed out on a lot of great shows!
